We took a little trip today to visit Great Grandma Arthur! Her and Cooper really hit it off! He opened his eyes to check her out, was happy the whole time, and even gave her a little grin!

Planting Corn
We ran some supper over to Dad tonight and spent some time watching him before we could climb in for a ride. One of my favorite parts of being a Mommy... seeing everything through Brody's little eyes. His Daddy is his hero and Brody is amazed by his every action. Tonight Dad was planting and I can guess what job Brody will be doing with his tractors when we play farm :-)

Cooper's First Tractor Ride
Brody took Cooper for his first tractor ride tonight! Cooper took the opportunity to take a little nap but Brody was wide-eyed learning about all the farming going on around him!
Making sure Dad is folding the field cultivator up right!
Dad's new little man... He'll really have his hands full in a couple years!

Cuddles!
Grandma Zieman stayed with Brody and Cooper so Mom and Dad could go to Uncle D's graduation party Saturday night. When Dad got home he passed out all cuddled up with Cooper. Aww... :-)
Uncle D's Graduation Weekend
Darren completed his last semester at Iowa State this spring and celebrated his graduation this weekend. We headed to Ames on Friday night to have dinner. After dinner, Grandpa and Grandma Arthur took care of the boys so we could go out with Darren in Ames. What a fun night!
The next morning Darren walked in the graduation ceremony for his college. We are so proud of his accomplishments!
Congratulations, Uncle D!
My guys all decked out in Cyclone attire!
Sean and his favorite guys :-)
I hope these little guys grow up to be Cyclones someday just like Dad and Uncle D!
Darren and Mandy! Not sure why he waited 'til his last semester to start hanging out with this girl :-)
Our Family :-)
The poster that Frosty Mugs had made for D's party turned out pretty awesome!

Cooper is headed home!
We got to head home from the hospital today. Dad spent the night at home last night so that he could actually get some sleep in a comfy bed in preparation of taking care of Mom and Cooper. Brody and Dad came to the hospital this morning to help get packed up and ready to go.
We weren't sure if our big boy would be able to fit in the newborn outfit that we picked out for him to go home it but we squeezed him into it! He wore a cute gray outfit that said "little brother" on the shirt. It looked adorable with his green tractor hat too!

We can't get enough of Mr. Cooper :-)
The rest of our hospital stay was pretty uneventful! We were blessed to have lots of visitors so we were able to show off our little bundle!
On Thursday we woke up to snow outside our window...yep, on May 2nd...only in Iowa! Cooper will be hearing about this the rest of his life. Although Mom didn't order snow, it was nice to have Dad around a little more and not stressed about not being in the field. We had more visitors on Thursday too! Grandpa Zieman came to visit and so did the Cink family. Aunt B and Uncle Eric brought us dinner on Thursday evening and they ordered from the Northwestern Steakhouse! What a treat :-)

Our Little May Basket!
Today is the day we finally got to meet our little May basket :-) Last night we enjoyed our last storytime as a family of 3 before tucking Brody in and saying goodnight. Mom couldn't sleep all night just counting down the hours. Grandma Arthur came over bright and early to stay with Brody until he woke up so that Mom and Dad could be at the hospital by 5:30am.
This is Mom's "before" picture! She is ready to meet the little guy!
Two hours later our big guy is born!
At first, Mom didn't really know what to think of her planned C-section. This time she remembered everything and didn't appreciate the anethesiologist having to poke her so many times - that was too scarey without Dad in the room. At our pre-op appointment Dr. Faust jokingly described the baby as a "small toddler" as Mom had been measuring big for the last couple months and he was right! Dr. Faust tugged and tugged to get the baby out and Mom did not like hearing, "I guess I should have made the incision bigger," coming out of his mouth. Finally, with the use of forecepts and lots of pushing and pulling, the doctor and resident were able to deliver baby Arthur!
Daddy confirmed it was a boy and loved his full head of hair.
Cooper Bradley Arthur
Born May 1, 2013
7:47 AM
9lbs. 14oz.
21 inches
Here is a picture of Cooper meeting Mom for the first time. This is when we decided that he did look like a Cooper and that is would be okay to stick with the name we had in mind. Mommy first noticed not only his full head of hair but his dark blue eyes!
Since Cooper was so big at birth, he was born with low blood sugar so it was important for him to eat as soon as possible. As soon as Mom got into the recovery room, Cooper tried to nurse but ended up having a little formula to help bring his blood sugar up into a safe range. Mom and Dad got just a little time to themselves before family arrived!
Big Brother Brody was the first to meet Baby Cooper. It was a little scarey for Brody to see Mom in the recovery room with all the cords and machines but he warmed up once he figured out Mom was doing okay. He loved Cooper!
Our other visitors for the day were:
Grandpa and Grandma Arthur
Grandma Zieman
Great Grandma Irene
Great Aunt Bertha
Uncle Eric, Aunt B, Jaxon, Maci
Uncle Matt
Uncle D
Todd and Alanna Engels
Tony, Kizzy, and Gabby Jansen
Uncle Brian and Aunt Abby
Uncle Michael and Aunt Karina
Beautiful Flowers
These gorgeous flowers were waiting for Mom when we got to our own room! Dad is so good and brought tears to Mommy's eyes.
Announcing Cooper's Arrival
This is the picture of Cooper we sent to some of our friends and co-workers to announce his arrival. He's a keeper :-)
